​Since 1987 Ann and Robert have taught others a way of mastery – in their personal lives, chosen professions and within the organizations they lead and serve.
​We believe there are two fundamental conditions required for mastering one’s personal and professional life:
  • The first is congruency – that is, the alignment of one’s purpose and actions with the essential truth of oneself and the context within which one lives or works.
  • The second is the courage to choose that alignment once it is known.

​From the beginning, our marriage and the work we did together walked hand in hand. At the core of each was our dedication to realizing the highest possibility in love, in service and in the ways of mastery, both personally and professionally.

Our lives have been directed toward assisting people in waking up, remembering who they are and bringing all they are to life, to their relationships, service and careers.
  • We each began our work in the Denver/Boulder area in 1987 when Ann worked with individuals and groups to discover the inner path to Self and Robert developed his award-winning workshop series “Creating Your Work.” After a few years, we combined our work to open Nierika Institute for Conscious Evolution in Boulder, CO where through various long-term programs, retreats, groups and individual work, we taught people to find the truth of themselves – and live it.

    At the end of 1999 we moved to Kauai, HI to re-energize and discover the next phase of our work, and ended up staying for four years.

    In 2004, we came to Asheville, NC where we settled and opened a new practice which has grown into what we now offer as Kumu Consulting.

Robert is known for his ability to immediately identify and then help his clients address the root of any problem, situation, issue or challenge with precision, clarity and compassion.

When working with teachers and counselors he will teach you how to develop and strengthen your perception, innate ability and integrity, and to integrate these qualities into clear, meaningful and beneficial service. When you encounter obstacles and difficulties in your relationships with clients, students, assistants or peers, Robert will guide you in finding your way to the most congruent, effective and sustainable solutions for the benefit of all concerned.

When working with leaders Robert goes beyond situational realities to the source of any dilemma or obstacle to show you how to find the clearest and most direct path to elegant solutions and inspired, effective leadership.

When working with individuals there is a profound experience of returning to yourself. It is in this return that everything becomes possible and your potential can be fulfilled. It is like waking from a dream to embrace the reality of the day ahead.

Over the last 30 years Ann has developed and taught a practice that allows one to identify and then transcend the existential crisis deep at the core of all problems, emotional pain and trauma. This crisis is always hidden, yet it is the true source of discord and strife in any area of life. Most importantly, Ann guides her clients to recognize how getting to the source in this way is always a doorway to higher awareness, health, happiness and to being one’s inherent potential.

Whether addressing personal, professional or leadership issues, Ann assists her clients in finding their inner limit within consciousness and to recognize how that limit manifests outwardly in every area of life. The discovery is always a gift because by virtue of becoming aware of the limitation, one has expanded beyond it. The original issue can now be seen as it truly is, the solution has become obvious and one can be in life with greater ease, understanding, ability and love – and that is always the goal.

Ann is dedicated to helping people make inner shifts of maturity and insight, in effect, evolving beyond previous limitations in consciousness. She teaches her clients how to cultivate increasingly higher states of awareness in which clarity, health, success and fulfillment prevail, and in which unconscious dynamics no longer rule one’s life.
