You can substitute the word “Life” for “God,” if you prefer: be in the world as if the whole thing is Life. How can you be in the world as if the whole thing is God? With delight. As if you belong here and don’t know how you could have been away so long. Do you see how the Infinite is everywhere you look? How condensation makes a perfect star at the bottom of the carafe? How pebble, twig and leaf come into silent, glorious, exuberant offering? How comically the crumpled wrapper plays with the wind and light? How all of life is awake? Be awake too. Or try this: Focus on one thing. Look closely, what do you see? The mind will elbow its way in to tell you how it all came about and why it is. But don’t listen! It can’t possibly know.
