Every step on the inner path, however seemingly small, How fortunate to be born into the perfect life! First or last, loved or unloved, in a rich country or poor, with parents who stay or go away, who raise us up or seem to push us down. Perfect. But sometimes life doesn’t seem perfect at all – it seems to stand in our way or push us around, being unfair and difficult. Events of childhood can seem like immovable barriers, keeping us from fulfilling our potential and reminding us of what within us is damaged or lost. How Can Life Be Perfect When it Seems So Very Imperfect? Consider this: the stuff of childhood, the conditions we encounter and the things that happen are stepping stones on the path of awakening, laid precisely in our way so that we cannot miss them. They are like hands reaching out to us from the infinite unity of life, guiding us to our true selves. There is no mistake. Being born is to emerge into the possibility of our own being, and what we encounter is everything we must encounter to be that possibility. Can it be any other way? The gift of life is sacred and the container of our particular life has within it the precise ingredients we need on our evolutionary path. If we can accept this idea even a little, then we can also accept the steps offered to us. We can take them – not fight or resent them, dig in our heels or milk them for all we can get. Outer and Inner The limitations we experience outside of us, such as the conditions into which we are born and the handicaps and obstacles we encounter along the way, are the very same limitations we carry within our own consciousness. It is just that one has form and the other is formless. The mind lives in a good/bad universe and so it tends to think limitation means bad or unfair. But limitation is not bad or good, fair or unfair – it is just the next doorway to knowing who we are. <> Paradigm Practice will show you exactly how to discover the doorway in any difficulty, circumstance or obstacle, and in the process remember who you are. We may at first have thought consciousness was in the mind, or even thought it was the mind itself. That it was somehow part of our domain; our personal interface with life or our go-to source of thinking and reason.
Exploring the mind however, we discover it is not consciousness that is personal, but the mind. We discover the mind is limited and finite and that we can go beyond it — to consciousness itself. Even as a new explorer, we are aware of something here vast and whole, an infinite peace, potent and complete. And we know — as if remembering — that this is also the intrinsic, intimate truth of ourselves.
